Isaiah 43, 44

Observation
God is telling us through his prophet Isaiah that he is the one and only God. There are those that have made idols from wood and metal. People are lovers of emptiness, they worship pieces of wood and don’t have the brains to realize how crazy it is.

Application
Why are we so easily entrapped into the things of the world? We know that the idols we have aren’t real, yet they seem to be at the top of our list of priorities. My desires go against the things that God wants for me. I am a lover of emptiness, the things I do have no substance. God would give his entire creation for me, and yet I ignore him and place him in a hidden corner in my heart. I want to live for him.

Prayer
God thank you for your grace, so many times I’ve found myself taking it for granted. I’m sorry that I ignore you and can’t hear you calling out to me. Help me be sensitive to your voice. Help me to realize that things of substance can only come from you. Give me the desire to go after those things. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
